Among other things, it is active at the Kitete Regional Referral Hospital in Tabora, Tanzania. This has led to close cooperation with the Foundation SmW, with the result that medical staff from Tabora regularly take part in our courses in Africa.
In November 2020, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University Hospital of Basel, in collaboration with the SmW Foundation, received the Poster Award for Humanitarian Aid from the Swiss Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (SGGG) for the project ‘Basic ultrasound training in obstetrics – using the example of Kitete Regional Referral Hospital, Tabora, Tanzania’.
